Been a spell since I've updated. So, update in progress....
You know what? It's difficult to go from an existence of doing jack shite for more than 2 months to one where you have to be somewhere and stay there til you're done.
Got me a job. I'm one of two Supported Living Coordinators for St Coletta's of Madison. My current caseload includes 7 clients with varying degrees of skills and independence plus the staff, guardians, and support brokers associated with each. I'm responsible for just about everything that goes on in their lives; finances, behavioral health, vocational concerns, appointments, etc. I hope I can handle it all, because the atmosphere at work is very loose in terms of hours and goals for the week. Meaning, I am solely responsible if I sink or swim. Today was the first day, and I spent about 2 hours in a meeting and then used the rest of the time in my office getting organized and reading case histories. I have a loooong way to go in terms of learning who, what, where and how. I'm already getting swamped somewhat in paperwork. Finances and scheduling look to be an ongoing struggle for survival.
Tomorrow I have to go to Jefferson for some classes (that really has little bearing on what I'll actually be doing, I reckon), and the rest of the week will see me engaged in meeting my clients and support staff.
Gonna be a challenge, but I can do this.
