[ Helios sees you there Robert and he is...doing some shopping on his own. Using only his good hand for most things because, well, his bad one kinda hurts. This weather is doing a number on it but he makes sure not to show it very much if at all. ] Making something Robert?

[It still makes Robert wince to see Helios' injured hand. When he was little, that had at least been a non-issue, but now it's back in its full painful-looking glory.

At any rate, Robert does nod at Helios, smiling softly up from where he's gathering some of the dry ingredients he needs.]

Yes. I... I thought some baking might be prudent considering the date...

[It probably won't be immediately obvious what he means, but Robert isn't aware of Thanksgiving.]

[ Helios is being nosy and eying those ingredients. He'll think on them for a minute...

That combined with what was said before. ] It's...it's not your birthday is it? [ He sounds disbelieving almost. How could he miss and not know about someone's birthday like Robert's?! ]

Ah... er, it is. I... realize I neglected to inform anyone... [And he fidgets a little in place. Are birthdays usually big enough deals for people to be upset when they aren't told?]

[ Helios audibly sighs. ] Honestly Robert. And you're going to make your own pie?

[ Helios shakes his head in disappointment. ] That won't do at all.

[ He goes to the shelve to start getting ingredients for his own cake. Because no he is not going to allow Robert to make his own birthday pie or cake! It is not right. He turns back around to face Robert two different containers of icing in each hand. ]

What sort of icing do you like? Chocolate, vanilla, none?

[Robert is just... sort of gawking. Why, Helios? Why is it so problematic if he makes his own pie? He's used to doing things for himself... it's not hard or anything...]

... I assure you, Helios, you hardly need to go to all this trouble... [And Litchi is going to be making him cake too. And then the event. He will seriously be swimming in cake.]

[ That's not the point! Helios frowns. ] But I want to. You've been nothing but helpful in the past. What's making a little cake? I don't think it quite covers it, really, and honestly it's your birthday Robert!

[ A smile. ] You should be having people bake you your own cake, not make your own.

But, I... I do not want to impose, and... [Softly:] ... It is not as if you have never done anything for me, either...

[... Still, he can't deny it's a very sweet gesture. It makes his chest flutter a little...]

... If you are set on it though, I... I suppose I would be absolutely delighted...

You're not imposing on anything Robert, don't worry about it. I'd be more than delighted to even.

[ A smile and a nod as he shakes the frosting tins once more. ] So? Which is it then. Chocolate or Vanilla? Oh! And maybe sprinkles. Ah no you're not the sprinkle type are you? Though you can never tell with people. [ Just a laugh. Don't mind him he enjoys making sweets but making cakes is one of his favorites. ]

[Robert smiles shyly at all this. Is he the "sprinkle type"? Do sprinkles even have a type?]

Ah, well... I do like vanilla, I suppose...

... do you think sprinkles would be... an unnecessary extravagance? [It is his birthday though.]

Vanilla it is then. [ Though really if it were Helios? He'd use both. As for the sprinkle question Helios barely fights back a scoff. ]

Nonsense! Sprinkles are a rather fundamental part of baking cakes and the like. [ This is serious business Robert can you not tell? ] But it is your cake so...whatever you'd like put on it. Anything at all.

[ Helios is going to bake you your own customized cake. Take advantage of this Robert. ]

[Well, he's not the expert at cakes. Helios is.]

... I... I do not usually have cake for this sort of reason, so I suppose I am rather at a loss...

[... This is the face of someone who is genuinely concerned about the fact his cake might be violating... cake principles.]

Always time to try new things and what better way to start than with cake.

[ He'll switch to using just his good hand, his bad one causing him some barely noticeable pain. He forgets he can't hold things for that long with it just yet it's annoying and inconvenient at the best of times but he'll get used to it. But at the moment it's a subtle shift as he picks up some cake batter, frosting and sprinkles with his good hand making to cradle all the items in both arms. ] I think that should do, hm?

Should we go to your house or-or my apartment? I-I suppose your house would be better. If-if it's no trouble that is. [ He wouldn't want to intrude. ]

[It is subtle, subtle enough that Robert doesn't realize, though he is quite aware of the continuing state of that hand. It makes him feel bad to see it, in all honesty, even though it's nothing he could have stopped.]

[At his question:] ... I do think my house would be the better suggstion, yes. You are always welcome...

[ Helios blinks looking at the few items he has on his person. ]

Oh! No it's-it's fine. I'm fine with carrying them Robert. You shouldn't have to do anything. It's your birthday. [ And that means no overexerting yourself or having to do anything. ]

I-I suppose we should head on over then. If! If you're, um, done shopping and getting everything you need.

[Robert frowns a little at that sentiment. His birthday or not, Helios shouldn't do too much for his sake.] But... Helios...

[Hesitantly:] I have less to carry, anyway... my bag is light. [Okay, so he's probably exaggerating a bit, but still. He doesn't want Helios to struggle!]
