Your nanocomputer? I'd love to see what it can do if it's no trouble.

[Robert pens his response easily for Litchi; he's thrilled she responded, actually, and she might catch his small smile over the video in the dim room.]

I would have no aversion whatsoever to you seeing my nanocomputer, Doctor Faye-Ling. In fact, I would be thrilled to demonstrate it to you.

Excellent! I have to admit, it's been quite some time since I saw anything of quite that level of technology, so it will be a bit refreshing.

I'm glad the Malnosso granted it to you.

I concur entirely. I hope that there are others here in Luceti who feel similarly...

[Robert pauses before writing a response to the next part. Thinking about the Malnosso in general still makes him angry with how cruelly they treated Raph...]

Yes, that is one good thing they have done. But it does not excuse their most recent atrocity.

[That pause doesn't escape her attention.]

What happened?

[This is something Robert would rather not announce to everybody in Luceti, so he takes the time to filter it carefully before he responds.]

Remember how I said that someone I knew had been kidnapped? It was Raphael, Don's brother.

And, well. The Malnosso returned him only yesterday.

[And with vitriol and disgust dripping from his words...] And they had vivisected him.

[...] That is why Don is asleep with me now. He was there with Raphael all night.

Oh my word. How are they both doing? Does either one need any extra help?

[Sometimes, she can hardly believe how harsh the Malnosso can be. It's times like this that she is very suddenly reminded of the real nature of their having been brought here.]

[Litchi might notice that Robert's writing is just a little shakier than normal.]

Raphael's condition seems stable for the moment. He is on an IV drip, I presume for nutrients as the Malnosso had starved him; though there does not seem to be any visible sign of infection, I suggested monitoring his condition, but I am certain Don would have done that regardless. Much of what he will need now will simply be recovery time, as there is not much else that we can do.

As for Don - well, he may need more assistance, but perhaps it would be better to ask him rather than I. However, considering the fact he is overworking himself to exhaustion, it may be best if he gets help.

[Robert is really worried about Raph and Don. Does it show?]

[Robert, do not invite her into this because she will also overwork herself into exhaustion. Of course, this also makes for a fun party.]

Just let me know the time and place and I'll come by to help as much as I can. He'll need his rest -- as much as he can get, anyway.

Do you need anything? This can't have been easy on you, either. [She sees your shaky handwriting, Robert. 8|]

[Robert will overwork himself into exhaustion. Clearly this will be a mutually-overworking-selves party.]

Thank you very much, Doctor Faye-Ling. I truly appreciate this, and will ask Don about it, perhaps, when he wakes.

As for myself, I am alright enough at the moment. Merely a little strained from all this.

[That will change very quickly, Litchi.]

Well, if there's anything at all I can do to help, whether it be for you or for Don, please let me know. Even if you just need someone to talk to, I'm here.

I appreciate that greatly, Doctor Faye-Ling.

In this place, one tends to need all the assistance one can get.

[He manages a weak but real smile for her sake.]
