(OOC: Sorry for taking forever to do an intro post! Dx; Artblock for icons is still eating me alive, so Robert may not be as emotional as he should be for a bit. I'll clarify most of his emotions out of habit anyway, but... argh. Will try to do something about this soon.)
[A short distance outside of the main cluster of shops and buildings in

... [Robert leans in closer to the little book, looking at it with a skeptical expression.] This is the strangest nanocomputer design that I have ever witnessed. In fact, it bears resemblance to a device I once saw in a museum... pathetically ancient, that, but it was amusing nonetheless. I believe it was referred to as a "book".
[His interest is instantly piqued by the word "multiversal".] A multiversion? This... "Luceti" is a multiversion? But I have never heard that name on record before in the databanks. Are you a Terran astrophysicist, by any chance? Or perhaps a biophysicist? [He's being a lot more vocal than he would normally... his voice is obviously laced with discomfort, but eagerness to speak to a fellow scientist - or what sounds like one - is overwhelming his natural inclination to just ignore the voice.]

[A moment later, a small sketch of a fish will appear on the journal.] Books from back home couldn't have done this.
[Tactfully ignoring calling books 'primitive' is go.]

[After a moment's pause, he seems to shift tones a bit, back to his initial curiosity.] I had a primary concern about this place. It appears that I have been experimented upon... Though I would have been most willing to participate in a study were I actually solicited for one, this appears to have been done without my consent. Most worryingly, I am currently in a location I don't recognize. You seem as if you know something about this multiversion, so would you happen to know anything about this?

It seems to be something in-between. It might have been chosen to be more familiar, and thus simpler to use, for inhabitants from less technologically-developed worlds and cultures.
Everyone is brought here to Luceti by the Malnosso. Occasionally people have appeared without the wings, which suggests it is possible to arrive here by other means, but no one has discovered what those might be yet.

[Robert quietly absorbs this information, pondering it as the voice continues to speak to him.] The 'Malnosso'? A word I have never before heard used from any lexicon used on Terra... though I am no great linguist myself, so perhaps that is simply an overlooked term for my part. Regardless, they must be great geneticists for a tissue graft to have gone so flawlessly. Presumably this is only a temporary state? ... And in terms of being "brought" here... Do they use transporter technology, or is this perhaps some method of which I am not familiar?
[He suddenly realizes he's been speaking with a stranger for several minutes with absolutely no courtesies exchanged, and common sense tells him it'd be better to seem polite in a strange place.] Ah, forgive my oversight - my name is Professor Robert Alexander Hastings, certified astrobiologist of the Randi Institute of Linden in Terra. [The title seems almost rehearsed, the way Robert says it, but there's a note of pride in his voice which is unmistakable.] And yourself?

[There's an intake of breath that suggests more might be about to be said, but she falls silent. It'll take a moment to think about how to respond, because she herself doesn't know many of the technical details.]
I'm pleased to meet you.
[It comes a bit too late to be entirely natural, but none the less sincere.]

[At the lull in the conversation, Robert suddenly realizes his state in terms of clothing and impending frostbite.] Er, I don't mean to seem... uninterested in this, but I fear that if I don't get myself some sort of skin protection relatively soon, I'll probably experience frostbite symptoms... [He studies his surroundings cautiously.] The area I'm in is quite heavily forested, but if I'm not mistaken, I can make out a rather angular building not very far ahead of me. ... Several buildings, in fact.

Please hurry inside, and then we can talk more.

Eventually, he makes it into the comparitive warmth and safety of the school. He hadn't stopped to note the external building, so he isn't sure quite what it is.] Well, I've relocated myself into one of the large buildings in what I presume is this city's main district... Considering how small this place is, though, it's a wonder it even has a main district at all. [His voice still has a slight shake in it from how cold he was, but he's either neglecting to mention it or he's too busy thinking to acknowledge it.]

What do you see inside the building?

It appears to be some sort of educational facility. Though I don't see anything in the way of a database, there is an obvious accumulation of information here... From my vantage point, there is what appears to be an office, several rooms that are labelled as classrooms, a washroom facility labelled for female-identified individuals, and a large room whose purpose I cannot ascertain. [He pauses here, looking around more.] I believe there's somebody currently in the office right now, but I can't make anything out from here.

I presume you have a good idea of my whereabouts, then? Perhaps there is some sort of global positioning system or co-ordinates map that I could refer myself to in future? [Robert is already planning to make obsessive notes of this, even if there are already notes; he would simply like additional sources of information other than his own.]

I... would greatly appreciate that effort on my behalf. I'm admittedly not used to complete strangers wishing to assist me... But I suppose that if this multiversion is anything like how you say it is, then this must happen often enough that one becomes inured to it.

I can be there in a few minutes. Please warm up until then.
