Perfect spring day

I don't think yesterday could have been any better.

It began on my patio with Shoshanah and Carolyn and a lot of dirt and foliage. After a Friday trip to Canadian Tire where I spent $100 (eeek, yes) on plants, seeds, and soil, much of Saturday and Sunday morning were spent out in the sunshine filling planters with the soil and plants. We planted 24 annuals, about a dozen sunflower seeds, thai basil, rosemary and radishes. So hopefully in just a week or two our patio will be full of flowers and yumminess.

Then I met with some fridns and headed out to Luskville Falls in Gatineau park. It is a fairly short but extremely vertical hike up a small waterfall. There was still snow on the mountain, which surprised me. But the warm sun and cool breeze made the hike perfect. Took lots of pictures. Ate Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream bars on the way home.

After the hike, I spent some more time on the patio (can you see a trend developing here?) willing the plants to grow and bloom. I didn't will strongly enough.

Then I met Pete for a Ladysmith Black Mambazo concert. They are an a capella South African group of 10 members. They achieved some fame about 15 years ago when they backed up Paul Simon on his Graceland album. Last year they won a Grammy, and deservedly so. The harmonies these 10 men created, based on the Zulu folk tradition, were unlike anything I've ever heard.

Back to home. More specifically, back to the patio, where I played with my guitar for a little while before bed.

Now the challenge is to make every day for the rest of the summer as wonderful as yesterday. Good luck, me.
