So it begins! I’ve actually started early; spending the last couple of days doing work on one of the projects I have in the works. As much as I want to dedicate December to inking my comic pages…I gotta make money too!
I’ve recently had a run of illustration gigs pop up that need doing, and they’re really exciting! The above illo is a quick logo design for Jody of
Classified Photos. who’s in the process of building a new, modern site for his Arial photography company. The character’s name is Sir Lens Aloft…ahhhh, see what he did there?
Next on the to do list is finishing the book cover for The View From Jackass Hill, my dad’s National Poetry Award winning manuscript from the Texas Review Press at Sam Houston State University.
I’m also halfway through the process of creating both an album cover and disc art for
Heroes Versus Villains, a joint Bad Dudes and OverClocked Remix project with the Bad Dudes taking on the bad guy themes and OCR bringing the heroics! Look for the album to be released in time for
MAGFest 2011 in January!
Finally, the most recent project I’ll be undertaking is an 8 page illustrated booklet for a couple of doctors at the WRJ VA Hospital as a contract between doctor and diabetic patients as an effort to make positive lifestyle changes that will prevent the need for amputation down the road. It’s not only a good cause, but the focus will be on the illustrations (think a new-yorker style single panel comic/illustration,) which I fully appreciate.
I will be not only doing 5 comics, but also designing and laying out the entire package, as well as perhaps printing and assembling the first run of the booklets. If the program goes well, this may end up being picked up by publishers and run in national Medical Journals. I’m super excited…and you should be as well!
It’s gonna be a long, trying month of cartooning, but I cannot wait to come out on the other end and have a mountain of goodness to share with you all. 2011 looks promising and I hope you’ll stick around through this dry spell to see the changes I bring!
