I worked today, which sucks, especially because I was only supposed to be in for two hours, but it ended up being 4. Sigh. Oh well, more money for me.
And oh, I met the most amazing boy!! He had come in today for an interview, and since it's my job, I greeted him with a "Hello!" Usually the responses of both students and prospectives alike are a sort of shy "Haro-!!" or something, but oh, not this boy. With a playful grin and confident air he replied in almost accentless English, "Hey, what's up?"
Wow, that got me. Turns out this boy, this wonderful boy, studied abroad for a year at a small university in California, then came back to Japan and went to grad school. Now he's finished, has just entered the world as a 社会人, and is looking for a way to maintain his English, which is absolutely excellent. Talking to him was seriously just like talking to any other American. And not only was he really eager to speak, but he was actually legitimately interesting, unlike so many other prospectives who can only do the small talk about sports and music and crap. Doing the "trial lesson" during the interview was like playing a game for him; it was so meaningless and I only wish we could have skipped it. Just conversation was far better. I could have talked to him for hours!!
And on top of his magnificent English skills and interesting conversation, he was really hot!! Tall and lanky with wavy black hair and a boyish face that looks Japanese, but then again doesn't. He's a country boy, from Fukuoka, who says he just can't seem to get used to Tokyo life. And he's in a band!! I'm in love.
But! His English is just so good, and his schedule is just so tight, that we don't really have a class to put him in. I have the perfect spot on Saturday afternoons for a private lesson, but it wasn't clear he wanted to shell out so much money, and I currently have another private there now. But I sooooooooo want him to come to our school. He was like a dream!!
Maybe it was fate that made me stay at work an extra two hours, just to meet this wonderful boy? Probably not, but at least I can dream...(笑)
