A Simple Difference

Kevin first visited Jason’s church a Sunday morning before service. Jason gave him the grand tour, and then Kevin took place in the assembly.

The second time, Kevin stopped by the church at lunchtime. He pretended to be a devoted church member in need of absolution. “Forgive me father for I have sinned,” he said masking his voice, “I dream of having sex with the minister in the confession booth.” A not so amused Jason asked a slightly embarrassed Kevin to leave.

The third time, Kevin was in trouble: he had a flat tire and no more cell phone battery. He found the office closed, but someone was nice enough to let Jason know about his presence.

He followed Jason to a humbly furnished room consisting of a bed, a table, a chair, and the moonlight as only luxury. Jason had enough faith in him to show him his secret sanctuary: his cell.

Kevin could have asked to borrow Jason’s car or to use the phone, but instead he chose to stay. They spent the night there talking and discovering each other, and finally fell asleep on the straw mattress, which turned out more comfortable than ever.

They were together.
