disintegration

Over the summer my dad's shoulders started to bother him. He figured he overdid it doing some work around the house. He's being doing what he can to heal them, resting, getting some acupuncture, and not lifting as much as possible, that sorta thing.
It just kept getting worse. A few weeks ago he got x-rayed and his shoulders appear to be bone on bone. Not convinced they were seeing what they were seeing, his doctor had him go for an MRI last week.
His appointment to review that MRI was yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday morning while we were having breakfast he told me that in some upright positions and in all sleeping positions except on his belly, his hand has been going numb.
Um, not good.
So his very short appointment with his doctor... the only thing keeping his arms where they are is muscle and skin.
One side they think might be reparable, however the other side requires replacing. So he's looking at a year or more of surgeries and recovery.
No wonder he's been so cranky.
Of course I'm mostly thinking of myself right now, what the hell and I going to do?
My brain's a caesar salad momma, and it's being tossed!
