Started the day reassuring Kelsey that everything was going to be okay. This was followed by taking Nadir for a walk, what a great dog!
I also talked to Ryan for a while today. I kind of suck at long conversations, especially over the phone. But it was still good to hear from him. He's one of the most important people of my life and I can't imagine what I'd be like without him. Anyway, it was great to catch up with him as we don't talk nearly as often as we should.
Later, I went the hospital to meet Kelsey and her family as they waited for the results of her dad's surgery. I can't imagine how happy he was to hear that the surgery was a success, and that he would not be doomed to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. On a lighter note, seeing him all hopped on pain meds was hilarious. There's nothing like a sassy old man who's temporarily free of inhibition. "That's my blood in that bag, they spilled some on the floor and just mopped it up."
As the sun went down, I embarked on a wonderful six mile run. The temperature was perfect, and the roads were gorgeously spotted with so many fallen leaves. And the sweet smell of the leaves decomposing was ideal perfume for such a delightful run.
I'm kind of over LJ. But today was especially noteworthy. Couldn't have been better.
