Bouncing Around

I have so much I want to post about that I don't even know where to start. Probably going to forget some things I was meaning to say but oh well, can make another post if I remember.

Had a wonderful time in Montana with biancathecookie, bought a shitton of adorable stuff that I'd so take pictures of if I hadn't forgotten my camera at home (which my mom finally found under her bed. No idea how it got there) but it includes 3 fabulous dresses, 2 pairs of shoes (one of which is these in green), a very Blairlike shirt, a jacket, a swimsuit, some hair accessories, some jewelry and hair accessories, three bags, some adorable socks, and a Griz pillow because biancathecookie insisted I have something with Griz on it. There's probably some random other things I'm forgetting, it's insane how much I got. I should never go on vacation with a total enabler when it comes to shopping when I have money and am fairly depressed. I'll get pictures eventually since my mom guilted me into going home for Easter.

I'm FINALLY getting my Subaru back from my aunt. Two years ago on my winter break I became my grandmother's official driver since I was home and had nothing better to do with my life and she'd broken her hip in October and needed to go to physical therapy and other doctor's appointments and like the store and stuff. After I went back to school she decided I was the best driver out of everyone in town and wanted me to have her car wen she died (which happened that May). I didn't really need it then because I had my Celica which was still working fine. So my aunt who is TERRIBLE with cars (and umm life) took it with her to Tennessee. In those two year my Celica has since been declared unfit for more than in town driving and I need another car and my mom was planning on getting me a car for graduation anyway but I really wanted my Subaru and my aunt has been abusing it and just got into a car accident with it (well her husband did) and so I decided I wanted to rescue it and at first my mom and I were going to drive down last Thursday if she could get Friday off (she'd taken Thursday off to spend the day with meeeee already. We had food and got massages and did other things) but she couldn't so sister and I were going to drive down and get it with some of her friends because they were all bored and these were friends I actually liked but then aunt declared that she was going to drive up.

SO long story short, I'm getting it on Sunday when she drives back down. Trading my mom's Corolla which I've been driving (she's been driving my Celica since she really only needs it to get to work and around town) for it because my mom has an overly developed need to take care of my aunt. AND I get to see my goddaughter/cousin who I haven't seen in ages so I'm doubly pleased.

Saw Knowing and Monsters vs. Aliens on Friday. The first was hysterically bad and the second was horribly adorable. Seriously, Knowing was so terribly my dad and I were sitting there laughing at it and I'm sure annoying everyone else in the theatre. After that was over I was like fuck I didn't pay $7.50 for that shit, I want my money's worth so I went into Monsters vs. Aliens and had a good time with all the little kids (it was a matinee)

Read some books on the trip. Grey by Jon Armstrong was kinda trippy and strange but still really good. The description in the book is gorgeous and the world (a kinda future alternate Earth I guess) was very cool. A Nameless Witch by A. Lee Martinez was fun and adorable although the beginning was much better than the end. Still it was a quick and enjoyable read and I've started another of his books already (The Automatic Detective) because he has a fun and light style that I enjoy. And finally Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss which bergann has been trying to get me to read for AGES, which I've owned since January, which I fell in love with the author via his blog in February, which I absolutely LOVED. Oh god after a slow beginning (maybe the first 30 pages) and trying to get past it for months the story just took off and it was delightful and heartbreaking and FANTASTIC and I want more now except he hasn't finished the next book yet but I can't wait for it.

This was released about the final book in the Wheel of Time series and I have to say after reading it I kinda really want to go back and reread the series and then get through the books I haven't read yet (10 and 11 although I'm pretty sure I skimmed 8 and 9). I started reading WoT when I was 12, it was my first major fantasy series, my online identity is rooted in it (Semirhage is one of the Chosen/Forsaken in the books. I roleplayed her in middle school and so made semirhage527 my AIM name and as I started expanding into the internets kept using it long after I stopped being into WoT. Now it's only my AIM sn and one of my Neopets accounts, but you can see how I derived my current name from it and the other name I use around the 'net, Semmi) and despite not being into it anymore (or really high fantasy, but I've been slowly drawn back into that this past year by authors like Scott Lynch and Pat Rothfuss and Joe Abercrombie) I still have a great fondness for those books and was sad to hear that Robert Jordan passed away before finishing. But after reading that thing by Brandon Sanderson I'm sure he'll do a great job and like I said, it made me want to reread. Probably I'll just go and borrow Sanderson's books from the library once my exams this week are over, but you never know.

I've made some decisions for after graduation. I'm still going to apply places on the off chance I get hired, but the plan is to move back home in August for a year and take some prereqs (anatomy and physiology, statistics, psychology) at the college my dad works at (free tuition if I go under 12 hours. 12 or more and I only get free tuition if I pay to live in the dorms which is so not happening) and then apply to places with Occupational Therapy or Radiation Therapy programs. I think it's a good and not so stressful plan since I can work for the year and save up without having to worry about rent and stuff. Plus sister and I are planning on getting a small dog and naming it Cory Matthews. Mom is very against this but now we out number her (sister has been wanting a dog for ages and I have too but no pets allowed in the apartment)

And you know what, I think that's enough for one post. Although I will finish with some bitching about my computer which HATES ME and my iPod which HATES ME. iPod has decided that it's only going to stay on the music screens and so while it plays music and starts and stops that's the only thing it'll do. It also thinks it's charging even though it's been unplugged for like 2 hours now. Computer has a massive virus and is on it's last legs. Mom tried to wipe it out and computer totally crashed. We backed and was like ok virus, not touching you, you just do your thing, whatever but now it's acting up like woah. It took me all night to get her to actually start up without either a)going into safemode and refusing to leave it or b)crashing halfway through the startup process or c)not acknowledging that I'd pushed the power button. Fun times.

ETA: Just got around to reading flist for the first time since Friday. All the Andy Hallet posts from last night made me cry a little. Didn't when I heard yesterday but god all those posts in a row (and really, it was like two pages of them, just journals since I filtered out coms) did me in. It's so sad and he was so awesome and young.
