Pushing the Wet Rope

Doing tech support over the phone is such a pain in the ass.
It's like people's brains turn off once they get on the phone with me.
I don't understand how I can manage to tell someone the same exact thing 6 times in a row and still have them do the Opposite of what I said.

"Okay, I'm about to install the SQL instance on your server machine and reconnect your new database. I Need to be  connected on the server machine itself, do you have access to the server machine?"

"Well why can't you do that from my computer? Can't you just put it on the Z drive?"

"No I need to be able to attach the database in SQL management studio, I need to be on the sever machine ITSELF"

(repeat 6 times)

"Okay so I need to be on the server?"

"Yes"

Bla bla bla.. gotomypc.com.... and what happens? They remote connect me to a workstation. No Joke.
also worth noting, on friday I told them the only thing they needed to do was make sure that their server was up to date.

So what... I get there this morning, and I have to update them.
- Windows Installer v. 3
- .NET framework 2.0

there was more too... service pack 3 for Office... *shakes head* Maybe I should have been more specific
