Some of Them Fell Into Heaven, and Some of Them Fell Into Hell

Feb 05, 2003 02:47

The fucking intro. is done. This is the first scene I wrote for Dead Gods and it is the only one that remains more or less unchanged from the very first draft.

EXT. ALISON'S HOUSE - SUNSET

Alison parks his car and gets out.

He is hit with more dirt and garbage as the wind follows him home.

EXT. WHITECHAPPEL PARK - SUNSET

Woo is almost kocked over by the mounting wind as he runs to his car.

As he runs he keeps looking over his shoulder as if he is expecting to be attacked.

EXT. 6TH STREET DINER - SUNSET

Jane takes shelter from the wind by going into the a seedy diner called the "6th Street Diner."

The restraunt's name appears on a fading neon sign.

After Jane enters the 6 flashes on and off three times and goes out.

INT. 6TH STREET DINER - LAST FEW MINUTES OF SUNLIGHT

The diner is run down and old. It is not well maintained and is begining to show signs of wear.

A single waitress hurries to meet the demand of the growing dinner crowd.

INT. BACK BOOTH AT THE 6TH STREET DINER - NIGHT

Jane is sitting at a back booth by herself, reading a newspaper.

Woo enters and sits down next to her. Jane scans over her paper on last, time and looks at her watch.

Then pretends to have just noticed Woo. Woo waits patiently through her routine.

Jane her watch off and hands it to Woo.

JANE
Could you read that for me? I could swear it says eight o'clock.

WOO
It does say eight.

JANE
Not seven? When we were supposed to meet?

WOO
No.

JANE
Just checking.

A moment passes between them.

JANE
Traditionally this is the part where you offer an excuse.

WOO
I'm late there is no excuse. I got caught up doing something.

JANE
Pigeons wouldn't let you go Jack?

Another quiet moment passes, Woo plays with his silver wear.

Jane rolls her eyes, when she realizes Woo won't answer for himself.

JANE
Where were you Jack? You don't have any other friends.

Jane furrows her brow when a thought occurs to her.

JANE
Your not working are you?

WOO
No. But it felt like that. Earlier. At the park.

JANE
Alright Jack tell me what happened.

Woo stammers, he is having trouble expressing his thoughts.

WOO
Its just that before at the park it felt like, it did...Just before, before me and Tatsume, before we (beat) killed.

Jane presses her fingers against here

Jane
That's why you kept me waiting for an hour? Because you got nostalgic for when you and Tatsume were cool?

WOO
Its not like that, it was horrible. Like this dream I keep having...

JANE
Jesus Jack I've known a lot of fucked up guys in my life but you take the cake. I remember this old vet...

A BELL at the entrance of the restaurant rings. Woo stiffens.

JANE
I used to see, he was scared all the time like he couldn't convince himself the war was over...

Through the door THE GUN MAN a man in a ski mask and trench coat enters.

JANE
But at least he didn't act like he missed the war...

The Gun man in the ski mask pulls a SHOTGUN from under his coat and fires into the crowded restaurant Gun Man aims the gun at Woo and fires, Woo dives to the floor and out the way just in time.

The buckshot grazes Woo's side and Jane's face.

The Gun Man approaches Woo, killing patrons indiscriminately as he does.

Jane finds a STEAK KNIFE on the floor and slides it to Woo, who palms it.

The Gun Man stands over Woo and chambers a round.

Woo stands and raises his arms in a "I'm not armed gesture

GUN MAN
There will be always be A God of Killers.

WOO
I know.

Before the Gun Man can react Woo jams the steak knife into the Gun man's neck.

Woo looks down and notices Jane's now blood splatterd newspaper. The headline reads "SIX DEAD IN WHITECHAPPEL PARK SHOOTING SPREE."

WOO
I guess sometimes you miss the war and sometimes the war misses you.

thats it, sorry the formatting is jacked. I'm sure how to make this work on Live Journal.
