The first Bridget Jones flick was in 2001, one year after Nurse Betty and Me, Myself, and Irene. She is NOT fat in any of those movies, but she supposedly gained 25 pounds for BJ.
One year later she starred as Roxy Hart in Chicago whom is supposed to be a very thin "frail" looking woman who has tremendous spirit- the point is to contrast her body with her "will", followed directly by Down With Love and Cold Mountain(in which she went back up to her normal average woman size), and then Bridget Jones' The Edge of Reason emerged in 2004 giving her TWO YEARS following the filming of Chicago to gain back some of the weight needed to play Bridget Jones. It's not she gained 30 pounds overnight, she was completely healthy about it and did two movies in between in which for each she gained a little more and a little more.
The only reason Hollywood gave her such shit about it was because after seeing her as Roxy they noticed how much a difference it really was. That's why they started calling her fat.
You were completely right. Go tell those bitches to shove it in their posada! DAYUM!
