Meet me at the picnic area, by the flamingos ...

Harry couldn't fault Elaine for being confused by his sudden early morning proposal. It had even take him by surprise, though, that didn't mean it hadn't been sincere. He didn't regret proposing and certainly was satisfied by the answer, but there had been room for improvement there and he still hadn't given her a proper ring after all ...

So, over the next week there had been a lot of sneaking around, scheming and calling in favors. Not his strongest suit, but he wanted, no, needed this to be perfect. Elaine deserved the best he could offer her, which admittedly, wasn't much ... and she had seemed sad lately ... He'd noticed a few times she looked like she wanted to bust into tears, when she thought he wasn't paying attention. She hadn't seemed to want to be caught, so he pretended not to notice and tried to cheer her up the best he could.

This wouldn't be the fanciest engagement ring exchange ever, but he'd make damn sure it was sentimental and heart felt.

On the day he planned for the picnic, he left her a little note and a Lincoln Park visitor map taped to the door, where she would be sure to see it when she left.

Elaine,

I thought we could have lunch in the park after your meeting. Meet me at the picnic area by the Flamingos.  See you at noon.

Love,
Harry
