“It’s no fair,” Minhyuk whines and kicks his legs. “No one ever likes the drummer. Drummers are cool.”
“If you say so,” Jungshin answers robotically and presses another button on the controller.
“I mean,” Minhyuk continues, “we’re the one who keeps up with the beat. What do you do when you sing the song - you drum the beat, right? Oh - go left. Besides-”
Jungshin turns the controller joystick left and the character on the screen moves. “Well,” he says, “at least you don’t have to stand straight the whole time - oh fuck, why’d you tell me to go left?”
“I don’t know, it looked nice.” Minhyuk snaps and continues rambling. “I never get screen time and shows either. Nor on performances either. It’s because I’m in the back. Why do the drummers have to be in the back?”
“Drumsets are kinda big,” Jungshin mutters and curses, slamming his fingers down on the controller. “No, no, straight, you fucktard.”
“But still!” Minhyuk pouts. “The stage is huge. If they can fit thirteen boys on it and have them dance, they can put three guys and a drumset on it.” Jungshin hums in response and keeps his eyes on the screen. Minhyuk watches Jungshin play for a bit more, telling him when to jump and when there’s a fireball coming at him. Jungshin is quiet when he plays video games, only making little noises when he gets something wrong and smiles when victorious. “Why are you even playing Sonic anyways. The games suck. I mean, have you ever played Sonic Riders? It was so bad I wanted to cry.”
“I will make you cry if you don’t shut up,” Jungshin warns offhandedly; Minhyuk has half a mind to grab the controller from him and throw it somewhere. “Why don’t you go to sleep or something?”
“That’s a lie and you know it,” Minnhyuk sing-songs. “It’s only two thirty; I’m not used to sleeping at this time.”
“Only two thirty,” Jungshin parrots and sighs at him.
“Only,” Minhyuk quips. “You missed a ring, by the way. Why are you so bad at this game? It’s so easy, I mean come on, it’s Sonic the Hedgehog. You can’t get any easier. I beat the game in two days, y’know.”
Jungshin sighs and pauses the game, turning to look at him. His face shows signs of exasperation and Minhyuk wonders if he’s just tired or really, really annoyed at Minhyuk. “Don’t you have anything better to do? Go bother Jonghyun.”
“He’s in his room, composing a song. Only you can’t hear because you have this game turned up so loud. And really! I asked if I could help, and he said no. He wouldn’t even let me come up with a beat. I’m the drummer, that’s what we do. We drum the beat. I was so offended.”
“Don’t you have better things to do?”
“’Course not, god, who do you think I am?” Minhyuk frowns and taps on Jungshin’s thigh. “Maybe if you stop playing the game, we could do things.”
“Do things,” Jungshin repeats and grins. “My interest has risen, do continue.” He traces patterns on Minhyuk’s thigh and grins.
“You look like a Chesire cat,” Minhyuk frowns. “What are you thinking of.”
“Well you know,” Jungshin drawls on, “drummers are supposed to be good with their hands.”
“Oh. Oh. Oh no.”
Jungshin smirks and goes in for the kill.
