A couple months ago I posted a poll asking for names and address, so that I could update my book. Now, my goal this year is to send out cards to everyone in my address book, so if you've given me your address, you should expect a card (unless I end up being a total loser, but that's another story). If you filled out the earlier poll, you're fine. If you happened to miss it (and I know that's the case for a few people I'd really like to send cards to) or if you've moved since the end of August, will you please do me the favor of filling in this new poll? Also, I'm pretty sure I remember who celebrates Hanukkah or the Solstice rather than Christmas, but if you think I might need a gentle reminder, please answer the final question and let me know your preference (this also goes for those who'd prefer a friendship-type card to a holiday card.
Poll 'Tis the Season
Today I filled a box with my card-making supplies. Tomorrow there will be paper and glue everywhere. Let the carnage... er... creativity begin.
Let's see, what else?
I voted today, though my enjoyment of the voting process is considerably dampened by the fact that Kitsap, the county where I live, is entirely a vote-by-mail county. So yes, I dutifully filled out my ballot, sealed it in the double envelopes and turned it in at the post office. The thing is, I miss physically going to the polling place, casting my vote and coming out with my "I voted" sticker. It may sound weird, but it always seems to mean more, like really being a part of the process.
In more frivolous news, I am now totally addicted to Heroes and Torchwood. Honestly, on Heroes, could Hiro and Matt be any more adorable? I love that Hiro's theory of time travel is based on the X-Men (so appropriate!), and that the issue of the X-Men he quoted was actually the right one (X-Men 139, Days of Future Past). That made my little geekgirl heart very happy. It's a detail that's totally non-consequential, but it made me feel as if I was in good hands. And Torchwood, of course, has Captain Jack. And Ianto. Have I mentioned my total infatuation with Welshmen in general (and if they look good in a suit and will do desperate things for love, I'm helpless)? That's not spoilery, is it? Actually, I like all the Torchwood cast. Even Owen is growing on me, though I still tend to think of him as Mr. Guppy, because I recognized the actor from the recent version of Bleak House.
Meds continue to kick my ass. I go see my provider next week, so we'll see if anything gets changed. I'm not a fan of these huge mood-dips that catch me all too often. But that's enough of that.
I'm very sorry that some of you have gotten caught up in the recent wankiness. I'll never understand why people feel the need to throw accusations or otherwise make people's LJ lives miserable. We get enough of that in real life. Anyway, I hope it all goes away soon.
With love,
Sema
