Politics

I love Roger.  I trust that he understands the political system and listens to a lot of things that are going on, and I value his opinion.  Though not expressly pro-Republican, as I understand it, he is expressly anti-Democrat.  He is fearful for the future of the country if a Democrat is elected.

I love Tom.  Not in the same way as Roger, obviously, but I have a great deal of respect for Tom as an intelligent being and someone who also understand the political system and is actively learning about everything going on in this election.  I have not yet deduced (because I have not asked, nor do I intend to) whether he is actually professing a pro-Democrat stance, or if he, conversely to Roger, is simply anti-Republican.  I know that he harbors at minimum a modicum of concern for the fate of our country if a Republican is elected.

So both of them seem certain that the election of their respective anti-candidate will lead to the probable demise of life as we know it.  Thankfully, they are friends, and are managing to stay that way through this mess; and for that I applaud them.  I love and respect them both.

Now, if I love and trust both of them enough to think that each one is right, how can that be?  Neither is wrong.  If you ask me, it doesn't mater who we elect, we're all going to hell in a handbag.  Now how's that for apathy?  How did I become so apathetic?

*looks toward Washington, DC*

I appreciate that they are each so politically charged, but as I say, if I believe them both where does that leave me?  In. The. Middle.  Frustrated, tired of election crap, and worried that this goddamned election is ruining my life.  I have never been more afraid for the future, yet unsure of a direction that will actually bring salvation to the economy, healthcare, taxes, education, welfare, retirement, and, let's see, did I miss anything? We'll just say "other charged issues".

I am very stressed out by this, and I really want it to stop.  I'm not asking to be convinced of the merits of each side so I can make a decision - so don't even think about it.  (In case anyone wonders, because no one has asked: I do have a political preference, and I don't need convincing.)

I'm asking for it to stop.  I'm asking for both sides (not Rog and Tom, but the actual political parties) to just stop lobbing verbal grenades!  Act like grown men.  Step up and say, "It doesn't matter who you elect, we're screwed!"  Put yourselves on the independent ticket together and run un-opposed!

*looks toward DC again and raises her fist*  Baaahhhhh!!!!
