Time flies

As of yesterday, my brand-new, incredibly sweet and adorable nephew is officially one week old. Wow.

Happy Birthday, Evan!

(Maybe someday, twenty years into the future, you'll get online via the computer chip in your brain while driving your flying car and search through some sort of massive Google archive and find this post and realize that your auntie was thinking of you when you were a week old.)

So hey - here's to the future!

And get that thing out of your head. It's unnatural.

My computer is finally starting to crap out on me. I can't really complain all that much; it lasted a good four or five years without any major problems and at the moment it's still hanging in there (obviously). I spent all last night defragging and and error-scanning because it's been a year since I last did that and my CD burner has suddenly decided not to work anymore. I haven't tried it again yet, but I have some MP3s that I absolutely MUST get off of this computer while I still can. Seriously.

I think I'm going to have to upgrade in the next few months while I can still salvage all of my files. Sort of. ::sigh:: I'm actually considering an Apple this time around; the idea of NOT having to deal with Windows issues is really, really attractive to me and I don't use any programs that are hugely Microsoft-reliant, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Bit of a learning curve, I'm sure, but I have used Macs before, both at work and at school, so it won't be totally alien to me. If I chicken out of that at the last minute I'll probably go with Dell, although after all the problems my brother-in-law has had recently with them, I'm a little hesitant.

Anyway. Once I get my credit card paid off, it'll be go-time. I think.

I'm not dwelling on the catastrophe that was the CA Special Election. I wonder, is it just human nature to blindly believe whatever people on TV tell you? To happily drink the Kool-Aid, to willingly jump on the bus? Because apparently, a whole lot of people in this state did just that.

I am so afraid for us...

On the other hand, if the paper-crankers at the Superior Court of San Bernardino honestly think I'm going to show up for jury duty on the day before Thanksgiving, they're smoking something serious. Luckily I was able to postpone it until January (yes, postpone. I do do my civic duty, however annoying it usually is).

Really. They have a hard enough time getting anyone to show up on a regular day. Asking people come the day before a holiday is just stupid.

Ahhh, government.

mac, evan, voting, thanksgiving, birthday, holidays, jury duty, comp troubles
