so my landscaping season officially ended today, although technically i only worked about 4 hours at my job all week. however, this was due to good planning (and a lack of social escapades this summer) which left me with 4 1/2 vacation days heading into this final week of work. very nice, since there was literally nothing to do at the nursery this week anyway, and i would've wound up making no money.
plus, it allowed me to help out a friend by working for her at a new club/lounge she was hired to renovate. apparantly the job was a couple weeks behind due to idiocy of the owners, and she was in a major crunch to get the job done by thursday at 9pm. i put in about 42 hours over 4 days and did mostly "light"-ish carpentry, none of which i'd ever done before. it was fun though, with a kind of desperate rush that bonded the 6 or 7 of us that busted our asses over this last week to get it done. we were lighting candles as the first customers were coming in the door, and i walked out about five past nine. there's still a few things that need finishing touches, but it's basically done. and it really looks pretty damn nice.
the dancers were most excited (as were the rest of us) about the shower room. it came out so cool. and i think they're going to add my suggestion for a bubble machine. wheeeeeee!
anyway, i may do some more projects like this for my friend over the winter. but i also have another renovation job possibility lined up, which i'll find out more about tomorrow. so it looks like i'll definitely be keeping busy, but more importantly i may also be able to afford to live and pay rent. yay me.
tomorrow i celebrate xmas with my father's side of the family. he and my step-m are in from cali until monday. they're staying with my brother tonight and tomorrow, and with me the rest of the time. so i've been converting my guest bedroom into a guest bedroom. my cat's a little pissed about the changes (it was basically her room) but she's good about adapting, as long as i keep feeding her and providing the occasional lap.
ho ho ho.
