ok. so, san francisco.
since most of the family was visiting sf for the first time, we wound up doing a lot of touristy stuff. but, although i could've done without the zoo and pier 39, visiting some vineyards and doing wine tastings was nice, and alcatraz was pretty cool. plus, besides the tour of the prison i was able to volunteer for a morning helping out on the restoration of the gardens there. it's a long way from showing much progress even, since it's such a mess right now, and they can't even touch 80% of the island until september because of the seagull nesting sites. but evenyually it could be pretty nice again. the gardens at least.
i also lucked out in that a good friend of mine from college happened to be in town on my last day, so we were able to meet up for dinner and some club-type activities afterwards. i didn't get back to my dad's until a little after 4am, which probably wouldn't have been an issue if i wasn't leaving for the airport 90 minutes later. oh well. it was worth it.
didn't sleep much this week either since i'm back to work, and thus currently back to 4-hour sleep nights. sleeping in saturday was a requirement for surviving the weekend. so that was nice.
so far work is as expected - just potting up nursery stock for the season. weather still sucks for the most part (did i mention that it was sunny and in the 70's most of the week in sf?) so we can't do any work outside yet even if we had it. the biggest change is that one of the guys quit. the foreman, really. it sucks in some ways because he did a lot of work, and was the only person who did most of the maintenance on the equipment. but at the same time he had become pretty damn annoying with all of his negativity, among other things. so the mood is a bit lighter and more relaxed so far. we'll see how it gets as the season starts and the work begins to become an issue of its own.
at the brunch today, there was a bunny hopping down the road just before we ate. seriously.
hope you had a nice easter.
