well tomorrow morning, 8am, i have to report for jury duty.
i know, i know. how civically-correct of me.
this will be my third call to duty. the first time, i was cancelled the night before. last time, i had to report, but all we did was wait around in some room of the courthouse. then we were herded into a different room where we were shown a rediculous (no!) film about the importance of jury duty. this lasted until almost noon, at which time we were set free.
no idea what to expect this time. maybe i'll be sentencing some bastard to fry.
(aspen, i don't think, at this time, that i can legally sentence someone to death by pit)
it's a superior court, so it could be a real-life criminal case. not just some civil suit.
if it were the south i'd think there might be a chance of another scopes monkey trial, given today's socio-political climate. but here in a blue state, it may be more likely to be a sexual abuse trial against some priest.
or i could be back home tomorrow around noon, updating about another for-certain oscar winner.
