(no subject)
man, i've had about the most tiring and most fun last four days. AMAZING. i was helping out at/attending a symposium on textiles from friday to sunday, and then today i spent all day doing condition reporting on stuff that was used on Lord of the Rings, which means i got even MORE textile exposure, which meant that i got even MORE of an awareness of a) how boring all of my clothing is b) how cool, amazing and talented people who make beautiful things are c) how actually textiles AREN'T BORING! (who knew) d) how little opportunity i give myself to pursue Making Stuff, and how SAD that is e) how i actually kind of wish i knew how to sew and f) how it really all DOES come down to the details.
just... it's all been SO amazing. and i made friends with a few engaging, funny and... SMART people (SO GREAT), talked to people who suggested that they may be able to set up future part time employment for me, and ok, i networked a bit (though that suggests insincerity and actually i'm not capable of being friendly/talking to insufferable people for any amount of time, so it was more like just talking to neat people who work in the cultural sector).
and NOW i'm totally exhausted. also: i have a Cold. which isn't that surprising, but IS pretty gross.
BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT.
i feel totally inspired.
