Do good.

Tonight, I ended up entangled in an ugly tale, someone else's hardship and pain. I know far too many people in today's world that would walk on and ignore it. They'd shrug it off, figuring they too have miseries and no cause for concern. But here's the thing; If you can help, why shouldn't you? Enrich two lives; Your own experiences, and their well-being.

She was in need, and came into the front office today looking for some place, any place at all to get away from an abusive spouse, her wallet had been taken, and multiple other lodgings turned her away. I had to do the same, or it would have been my job on the butcher's block. But I did have the vastness of the net at my fingertips, the full extent of the telephone directories available through social services, every little ounce of social support available. Today I learned just how powerful a brew it can be, for someone in need. I've given her my number in case she needs more help and advice in a trying time, managed to get her into a women's abuse shelter, given her a fleet of contacts to draw on for support, and done my good for the day. I'll carry on doing more, if another chance presents itself.

We all pull together, we all stand in health, cheer and fortune. Do that little extra; Brighten someone's day, any day, any time. It's the best feeling, for everyone involved.
