Oh, it's been a fun few days here. We had a big storm on Sunday, and lost power for about 8 hours as well as phone/dsl. The phone/dsl wasn't fixed until yesterday around 4:30.
How cool is that? About 2 weeks ago, I had this brilliant idea to sit him on the loo and pour some warm water on his nether regions. Lo and behold, out it came. So, now, everytime I change his diaper, I stand him on the loo and start pouring, and he pushes with all his might to get every last drippity drop out.
He can also say "pee-pee", and seriously, this kid tells me he has to go, and go we do.
Time for those pull-ups!
We have a really perceptive little boy, that's for sure. He just observes, listens, and gives whatever he learns his best shot. He knows where the dog brush is, and takes it out and tries his best to brush the dogs. Then he does what he has seen mommy do, and tried to pull the hair out of the brush before he continues.
My mom was using her little handheld dirtdevil and Sumner was watching her, so she handed it over to him and he proceeded to clean the carpet. When I vacuum, he gets out one of his push toys, and pushes it along the carpet to help me "vacuum".
He also finds random rags and cleans imaginary puppy/dirty paw spots off the carpet, as he has seen us do many a time.
I am just so in awe of how much a child's mind absorbs. Their little brains are so ready to fill up with any and every bit of information they can get.
Anyone who says motherhood is "boring" is insane. There is not one single minute that I find dull with him. Truly, he fascinates me.
I cannot believe that it's been almost 11 months since I first saw his face and held his tiny little body close to my chest, kissed his chubby cheeks.
He will be a year old in about a month and a few days, and "celebrate we will, cuz life is short but sweet for certain".
Pssst...don't tell him, but mommy and daddy are trying our hardest to get enough $$$$ together to buy him a kid-safe, well trained pony for his birthday. Ebay has become our second home, and slowly but surely, we are saying goodbye to the last of Sumner's 0-9 month clothes, a few thrift store finds, and a few odds and ends that are helping us get him his pony.
I saved the most special things of his to keep for him when he grows up to be a big, strong man. I think it'll be pretty cool for him to see how tiny he was, and pretty heartwrenching for me to let him go.
Okay, enough of those thoughts or I'll cry a river before my 3rd cup of java.
I love you all ever so much and hope this day finds you feeling happy.
xoxoxo~
oh, and Sumner took this pic of himself the other day. Crazy kid.
