a sweet personal space for O

Readjusting the kids' room yesterday, we put the bunk beds back together and decided that since the girls can't have their own rooms right now, they can at least have their own private spaces behind curtains. Here is Opal's curtain. She chose the fabrics, vintage and new...

And I put it together.

A detail of the hem and french seaming.

This makes my inner child very happy. It is like camping out in a circus tent! A tiny caravan for a young traveller...

Then tooling around the internet last night, I stumbled across the new whiplash competition at whipup.net. The theme being "everyday creativity." This curtain fits the bill perfectly, for who practices everyday creativity more than children? and what better way to blow that spark into flame than by creating inspiring environments for them?
So this is my whiplash submission.
