good things:

*I love my major appliances! My washer and drier. I do not take them for granted.

*I sold a piece of artwork. The first ever sold as Art!

Some friends came over, they are both artists and collectors, and he saw this on the wall and wanted to buy it! These friends of mine, their house is truly a gallery of local artists, and to be in that company makes me feel like I am finally participating in a society that I have been looking in on for years!

*My house grows steadily cleaner and cleaner. While it may seem trivial to some, this is a major leap for me.

*Homeschooling my now-teenage-daughter in the elements of fashion and costume. She will have tools at her disposal that I was not given (but had to learn through experimentation. Not that was a problem. She will just have a jump start.)

*Living a relatively (see next entry) sweatshop-free lifestyle. It can be done, and it is great!

*My little iPod shuffle. It helps me tremendously at work, and I am being careful of my ears.

*freak-folk. For just a moment I have a glimpse of my natural-born culture emerging somewhat bleary-eyed out from underground into the light. Who knows how long it will be before it pops back into its den? It is enough to see it for an instant, see that a personally compatible version of Outsider still exists beyond the boundaries of my country trailer! It also reinforces the idea that my craft, my art, might be marketable after all. hey, I'm not trying to get rich here, I just want enhance the lives of a few people with the positive Energy of my stuff, Man.

*On a similar note, Richard and Mimi Farina. I have my mother's copy of Reflections in a Crystal Wind and it has been lulling me into the most lovely dream.

In other news, afghans for afghans has put out the call to collect 500 wool hats by January 20 for quick shipment to kids in Afghanistan. I will be sending out one or two, and I just wanted to spread the word in case anyone else is interested. Details at the site. I always wonder how people feel when they get these charitable donations in far-off places. Does it hurt their pride to receive them, or are they too cold to care?

Anyhoo, that's all for now. Happy New Year all!
