So let's start the first ever Asian Pop Deconstruction Happy Fun Time Journey Lesson with a nice easy comparison...
What do we know about Lady Gaga? She has platinum blonde hair, she often wears interesting costumes, there was some retarded rumour about her actually being a man. Let's take a look at her songs - they are often related to a plethora of subjects such as sex, sex, journalism, sex.
And for the sake of it, here is the video for P-P-Poker Face.
Now, let's take a look at whom I believe to be her Asian equivalent: G-Dragon of Big Bang fame.
G-Dragon is the 'leader' and seemingly founding member of popular Korean boy band Big Bang. They do R'n'B, with a bit of weird half Korean half English rap on the side. G-Dragon has decided to go solo, and thought he'd better dye his hair platinum blonde for unknown reasons. RESEMBLANCE NUMBER ONE.
G-Dragon is also a pretty boy. Very pretty boy. And with his effete movements, lovely high singing voice and soft, soft skin he is often mistaken for being a lady. Despite the fact he obviously is not. Gender confusion? RESEMBLANCE TWO.
Now here I present to you a music video for the single Breathe. Title seems normal, could be about love, or life, or how you sigh in relief after the bleach stops burning your scalp as it's washed out of your hair. But the lyrics (bar all the weird English they throw in to sound cool, you know, like what English speakers do with French) show that it's to do with him having wet dreams about being with two girls at once. Unsexy, gaudy song about, uhh, sex? RESEMBLANCE THREE.
And really, look at that video. Look at that jacket with the feathers to make him look like an angel. Look at that hideous flower hoodie get-up right at the end. Crazy costuming masquerading as fashion? RESEMBLANCE FOUR.
