Nihon no Tanjoubi!!!flip_flop_flipOctober 28 2009, 12:50:14 UTC
As much as I love that I have more Halloween options than Christmas options this year (in my mind: Halloween > Christmas/Xmas)... Long time friends that fill me with laughter take priority, so I'm off to Castle Hole on Saturday to spend Halloween dress up celebrating dual Birthday goodness with that lot of friends. I'm dressing up as Mark Mothersbaugh from DEVO!
Anyhow, you raise a certain other vitally important event in my yearly calendar... MY Birthday. Next year. Japan. Let's make it happen! Was also hoping to go on a vegetarian tour of Mongolia that I discovered, but I think I will only have time for TOKYO TERRIFICNESS!!! And even then, I'm sure I will wish I was spending more time over there. But the main thing is to spend about two weeks in my favourite country in the world, land of awesomeness. NIHON!!!!!!! Hoping to have a Birthday theme (within the whole Japanese theme) while I'm there to... maybe a real Ninja theme? A specific anime such as Neon-Genesis Evangelion? Karate outfits? Definitely need to dress up and have some weird cake. IT WILL BE AWESOME!!!! And see lots of awesome Japanese bands (considering that every Japanese band I've seen so far has in fact been awesome, there should be plenty to come by)!
April, next year. I really should book it soon, since it's slightly less than six months away now.

Hmmm, after thinking about mentioning this in my journal, I shall copy and paste most of this post (hope that's OK), even though I doubt any of my friends will want to go all the way to Japan with me. But hey, maybe there might be more planning a trip around the same time anyway, so worth a mention. Plus this comment (above, not this one) is far more interesting than anything I've written in the past ten months, maybe years...

Oh man, Japanese birthday would be amazing. Also, if it were Neon Genesis themed I would totally dress up as Rei. She is awesome. But yeah, I think I really need to go to Japan next year, so hopefully I'll manage to save up some money by then and go!
By the way, Limited Express are playing Dirty Shirlows tomorrow night. I'm hoping to get there and see them, even though I work until 10. I might sneak away earlier, haha. I have to see them though, one of my favourite Japanese bands at the moment!

Yeah, I think I'd dress as Gendo Ikari (Shinji's Dad) if it were a Neon-Genesis theme. Looking at prices, JAL seems to have gone up significantly (unless I'm checking it wrong) but Korean air lines seems reasonably priced.
Uh... not sure where in Marrickville this Dirty Shirlows is. Would be awesome to see them though. Cool name too! Limited Express (Has gone?)
