I tried to verbalize where I think you're going, and I think I can see it, but it's very abstract, like an emotion, except language gives us convenient words for emotions. This doesn't have a word assigned to it. That's where metaphor comes in, I guess, but the signal-to-noise ration can be unkind to that sometimes.

I know! and I feel that way about it too...it's not the town itself with which I have a connection, and it's barely the people. It's just the knowledge that I have become an immovable part of something, unbeknownst to most of it's inhabitants.
