Character Information

General
Canon Source: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Canon Format: anime
Character's Name: Sayaka Miki
Character's Age: It's not stated specifically, but she seems to be about 14 so I'll be going with that.
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. n/a
What form will your character's NV take? Her NV will look like some sort of fancy, hi-tech smartphone. Things in her world are creepily hi-tech.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: She's ~magic~! Sayaka's primary ability is that of summoning swords to do battle with, and she's decently good at using them. It's not stated the exact amount she can create, but considering how other characters' (like Mami Tomoe) weapon-summoning abilities function, I'd guess that there's no strict numerical limit; rather, if she's too exhausted or injured to fight, she probably wouldn't have it in her to summon anything additional.

Her battle style varies; throwing swords like spears at the enemy is one tactic she's been seen using, but most of the time she takes a single blade in hand and fights more traditionally. Regarding her physical abilities, the magical girl transformation has granted her superhuman strength, agility, speed, and reduced sensitivity to pain. When transformed, she has quick healing capabilities; musical notes seem to surround the wound and her magic takes it from there. Again, the limitations of this power are not expressed, but it appears to happen automatically, with no input from Sayaka. Larger wounds will presumably take a longer time to regenerate--complete healing isn't instantaneous.

Sayaka carries a Soul Gem; it's literally a gem that contains her soul, and it's where her power comes from. When not being actively used, it takes the form of a ring on her finger. If she is not within several yards of the Soul Gem, she'll collapse and her body will become corpselike, but she can be restored to life at any time if the Soul Gem is returned. If the Soul Gem is destroyed in any way, it means instant death for Sayaka. The Soul Gem also grows corrupted over time, and full corruption of a magical girl's Soul Gem will render them into a witch; the objects that reverse this corruption, Grief Seeds, are not present in Siren's Port, so I'd like to request that her Soul Gem stay in a 'frozen' state so she's not stuck turning into a witch after enough time's passed.

Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? n/a

Weapons: Her swords are essentially her only weapons, though I'm not sure they would be considered to be kept on her person. In order to keep her from being overpowered regarding weaponry, I'd be willing to impose a limit on how many she can summon at once?

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: The Madoka wiki should suffice!
Point in Canon: Episode 7, prior to fighting the Elsa Maria witch.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: n/a

Character Personality: Sayaka begins the series as an energetic, determined girl. She is outgoing, confident, and unfettered. Loyal and caring, both to her friends and to the boy she is in love with, Kyousuke Kamijou. She is the sort of person that believes strongly in justice and in heroism. She desires to be a 'knight in shining armor' to the people of the city, rescuing them from witches and making them happy with her powers. Her extremely selfless nature is reflected in the very wish she made to become a magical girl in the first place--that being, the miraculous wish to heal Kyousuke's injured hand so he could go back to being a musician. She believes, initially, that she will not regret this decision, and that she has not paid too extreme a price for the wish.

Though she has a strong set of morals, her view of right and wrong is rather black and white, and she soon begins to see things from a 'holier than thou' perspective--though it isn't entirely unwarranted when considering her unfortunately negative first impressions of Kyouko and Homura.

She clings to her idealism, and to the idea that it is possible for her to be the perfect hero, even though it becomes clearer and clearer that she cannot. She is stubborn, and it's very hard to get her to change her mind once it's set. Homura? A terrible person that let Mami die, despite Madoka protesting to this view of the other girl, knowing it isn't true. The wish? Still a good idea, despite how badly things begin to go for her, and all the evidence that points to the fact that this will turn out badly. By the time she realizes that her selfless wish for Kyousuke has wound up ruining her own life, it's already far too late to save her. Madoka herself even mentions Sayaka's stubborn nature, and adds that this stubbornness makes her argumentative. She'll rarely, if ever, back down from a fight, even if it means she may get stomped into the ground by her opponent metaphorically and/or literally.

It's not impossible for her to change her opinion, though, or to hear out even people that she dislikes; she is able to realize in episode 7 that Kyouko actually wants to help her, and has a surprisingly civil conversation with her.

She doesn't let on when she's in pain, instead clinging to a confident facade--and generally she can maintain this facade pretty well, even if she's in absolute turmoil. She's quick to brush off the notion that all may not be all right, both out of pride and out of the desire not to worry the people she cares about. She's willing to try and bear the weight of the world on her shoulders. There are cracks in her facade, though, something prominently demonstrated in her fight with Elsa Maria. She loses it here, attacking ruthlessly and almost maniacally, claiming that she doesn't feel any pain this way. The violent nature of her battling seems to be her attempt at finding an outlet for her emotional pain, as no other outlets exist. (Or at least she won't utilize them.)

The discovery that she's become a walking corpse troubles her on a deep level. She feels disgusted with her form, saying that it's just not possible for her to try to be with Kyousuke any longer because of what she's become. Between this and her resentment towards Hitomi for trying to take Kyousuke from her, she actually breaks down and cries in front of Madoka. As strong as she is (or tries to be), she cries openly both here and after Mami is killed by the witch named Charlotte; she is much more emotional than she would ever want to let on.

While her love for Kyousuke is genuine, she realizes early on that part of the reason she wants to heal Kyousuke is so that he'll feel grateful towards her; though she is also upset with herself for feeling something selfish like this. Sayaka is the sort of person without much tolerance for immorality, whether in others or in herself. In general, she holds herself to high standards and has a very hard time forgiving her own transgressions.

It's extremely hard for her to accept that she has flaws and selfish moments like everyone else. This is why she won't concede that her wish had negative consequences for her; she feels that if she were to regret it, she'd be regretting healing Kyousuke in turn.

The fact that she cannot confess to Kyousuke is one of the main things that sends her over the edge and into depression. The witch fights we see around this point are similar to the prior Elsa Maria battle--Sayaka venting her pain and sadness through battling witches.

She can be clumsy in comforting others. Although she only intended to try and soothe Kyousuke's mind, having him listen to the classical music he could no longer play deeply upset him, and it took him flying into a rage at her for her to realize that she was unintentionally making him feel worse. She cares for her friends a great deal, and to hurt them in such a manner is one of the last things she would ever want to do intentionally.

When she's feeling her best, she's prideful but kind, strong yet carefree; a girl with a competitive spirit and heroine's heart. She likes making others laugh, and faces the day with a smile on her face. Even before she becomes a magical girl, she doesn't hesitate in rescuing Madoka from a perceived danger posed by Homura, and again shows no hesitation when saving Madoka from the witch Elly. Madoka is a person that Sayaka cares for deeply, and is extremely protective towards--it's no surprise that they're such close friends.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: n/a

Character Plans: I'm very much interested in finding her as much cross-canon CR as possible and seeing how she fits into the city! And...that's about all I've decided firmly on. I'll just see how things go from there.

Appearance/PB: One, two.
