double whammy!

okay, so The Color Purple was AMAZING...i didn't get to see LaChanze...she was unfortunately out, but her understudy turned out to be incredible...apparently, she trained at Eastman and AMDA. yay for her. anyway, i loved the musical. it was really really beautiful and i cried a lot at the end...but they were totally happy tears. it was just beautiful.

after that, we headed over to Ave Q to try for lottery tickets and meet up with Eli...while we were waiting on that, Monica and i figured we might go try to see The Wedding Singer...so we went to check if they had any student rush tickets left. they had some! there was a little bit of drama trying to decide what we were going to see, but finally Monica and i won out cause she had already seen Ave Q and there was no guarantee we'd get tickets for it, so we bought the tickets for Wedding Singer and then went to chill out for a bit. we met this guy who was hanging out with one of the promotors for Wedding Singer (Benjamin wanted to talk to him to see about getting a job, cause right now he promotes a comedy club and only gets paid commission and he hates it, and he heard that Wedding Singer promoters get paid better)...but yeah, we met this guy named Casey and he told us first that he was in the show, and that he was an understudy. turned out he was lying about that, cause when we pressed him, he relented and told us that he was actually a techie, a lighting guy. but i'm pretty sure he was lying about that too, cause we kept asking him what time his call was and then he never went and said he didn't have to be there on time and it was even creepy when we saw him come in and sit down in the theatre. then he came over to us at intermission and talked to us. i kept a good eye on everyone and everything...he had told us that he was going to try and get us backstage after the show, but i didn't think that was a good idea, so as soon as the curtain dropped, i gathered everyone up and we left. i didn't want there to be any chance that creepy Casey could follow us home, but it was fine. we got out of there just fine, and even though he might not have had bad intentions, i wasn't going to take any chances whatsoever.

i gave a homeless man a dollar this morning. i hope it helped make his day a better one. he always hangs out near my dorm, but he seems like a nice guy.

all in all, it was a great day. yay for that. and i have a voice lesson tomorrow and it's going to be fabulous. yay.

love you kids!

=o)

summertime!, cap
