CAP
okay, so...i just realized that i hadn't updated about CAP yet. well, all i can say is that its absolutely nothing short of incredible! the people are SO SO SO nice and even though today was the first official day of classes, i already feel close to some of the people in my classes...and the teachers are pretty cool too...
i had my placement audition yesterday and all three of the people who saw my audition put me into their classes! i have Elizabeth Hess for acting, Francis someone for audition technique, and last but not at all least, Bill Daughtery for vocal performance...i also have this wonderful woman named Tessa Lang for vocal technique, and she's a voice care professional...and she's done opera. i have this rather stiff guy named Lars for tap class...seriously, the first thing he asked us to do today was stand in a line alphabetical order ala A Chorus Line...he made me feel a little judged, not gonna lie. oh well. everything else is incredible.
after vocal performance with Bill this afternoon, i called my parents and begged them to let me take lessons with him, and they agreed! so i will be getting new and interesting rep and a really cool, awesome teacher to boot. i think he teaches belting, but i'm gonna talk to him and see what he thinks...cause i need someone who's not gonna make me sound pop-ish or like a Disney princess...i need to keep my operatic voice too. i guess i'll talk to Bill about this tomorrow and see what he thinks. maybe Tessa would be better to take lessons with, cause she's done opera and operatic Broadway stuff, which is more of what i want to do. i don't know. we'll see.
right now, i'm eating in my dorm. i have no utensils or plates or anything, so i'm eating an apple. i have some soup and i kind of want to fix it, but whatever. ooh, i have Clif bars too...my roomate's name is Sara, and she's not here right now, which is fine. she's really nice, but it's really nice to have some alone time when i can blast my music.
oh, i just remembered i haven't said anything about my dorm...we have 3 rooms with 2 girls each, 2 bathrooms and a small kitchenette. it's not much, but it works. the girls are nice, so thats cool too.
in a little bit, i'm hopefully going to meet up with some of the girls from CAP: Emma, Haley and Monica...i really adore Emma. she is so so sweet. i think we're going to have tea or something inexpensive like that.
oh em gee, thats the other thing! New York is sooo freaking expensive. i'm getting used to it, but slowly. i miss cheap things! lol.
last night, i went to this thing called Broadway Under the Stars in Central Park, and it was incredible! Lisi got us really really good seats, and it was a whole bunch of broadway stars doing songs from some of Hal Prince's most famous musicals...i saw a whole bunch of awesome people - Carolee Carmello, Sutton Foster, the Jersey Boys, Bebe Neuwirth, Elaine Stritch, Rebecca Luker...a whole bunch of people! even Liza Minelli made an appearance...it was crazy, and oh so incredibly awesome.
okay, i'm gonna go. i have to cut holes in the bottoms of my tights so they won't have feet anymore and i want to read a little bit...just chill out. i don't think people do enough of that here.
