Okay. Since Yuuri is now officially on a two-week hiatus, have a relationship meme.
You don't even need to return the favor, just be patient as I do responses. Yukina, expect maybe two tags. Souji, expect 3+.
Why was I saving this for a Yuuri hiatus? Because he's getting his own goddamned essay. After The Plot, Souji will probably get one, too.

To repeat myself for the benefit of stalkers, Wolfram has a Souji-complex similar to Souji's Hijikata-complex. Which I also repeat, makes me sad, but also relieved because it's at least better-founded and much more healthy. >>; Souji is the main reason why Wolfram isn't as bratty as he canonly should be, because he's the only person that Wolfram cares enough about their opinion to recognize his bratty and childish behaviors enough to feel ashamed and want to change them. Though Wolfram's tendencies towards being a bigot aren't based in close-mindedness, he'd still be mortified if Souji ever were to realize how shallow Wolfram is capable of acting. ...And I'm not even going to touch the childish issue. We know how that'd fall.
As for Souji himself... Wolfram finds him to be perfect. Absolutely. The only exception to this is Souji's tendency to view himself as flawed, which makes Wolfram want to tear his hair out in annoyance as a response; both because Souji is so very WRONG and also the fact that Wolfram's reassurances don't seem to mean enough to him to make a difference.
Wolfram thinks Souji wastes himself on a clueless and emotionally inept individual like Hijikata, but would never say so only because he recognizes the chance of turnabout and also (considering how he would react about such a thing being said about Yuuri) the reaction that he might get in response.
Souji's tendency to angst about his "flaws" from time to time actually makes Wolfram both irritated, for earlier said reasons, as well as envious - we all know how easy it is for him to admit when he's wrong or acts in a way that doesn't quite demand proper respect, after all~ So basically, what Souji finds as the worst thing about himself, Wolfram finds as the best, in a way. Which makes him the resident "let's make Souji NOT feel like a horrible person" activist.
Souji also has totally destroyed Wolfram's barrier regarding the race concept. Which is bad and good, since now, whenever the subject IS brought up, Wolfram immediately goes into emo mode, because though the guy is passionate and single-minded, he is absolutely terrified of the concept of human mortality. And then Souji does his "as far as I know, I'll be dead in a year", and after his tuberculosis was healed "I might not make it through the next ten years or so, anyway, considering I don't know how much difference we can make" and et cetera...
...Souji is the reason why Wolfram loves the island so much. Not because it allowed them to meet and become friends, but to take Souji away from Japan and to a much safer (er, relatively) place. Though he would NEVER say so, for the sake of avoiding a lecture about duty and responsibility... Wolfram hopes that the island keeps Souji here forever so he never has to go back to where he came from.
...More coming up orz.

...And going up a step AGAIN, he has also gotten to the "would give my life for" category. I'm not talking island-death, either. Though he's not on the list of people that Wolfram would give if he was ASKED who he would die for, at a specific moment where it was a "him or me" moment, Wolfram would choose "me". ...Sorry if I broke your muse, feel free to reboot him and then keep reading.
U-uhm, let's get back to something lighter, shall we? Perhaps I'll build on that "why Souji is perfect" subject. Yuuri is also perfect, but that's for the same delusional set of reasons that Souji has about Hijikata. >>;;
This is the place where I have to put the (muse-imposed) disclaimer that these reasons do not mean Wolfram is being unfaithful by any means. ^^;;
Souji... never acts wrong. Not that he doesn't make mistakes (though those are rare), but... he's never happy or serious or hyper or whatever when he shouldn't be. This is another thing Wolfram is mildly envious of, since he is ALSO always all over the place and goes from emotion to emotion without pause, but Souji can control it. That's beyond Wolfram's comprehension.
As I said earlier, Souji admits all of his weaknesses. Next.
"Dasdhfkjwe;hfjlsjf THE EMPATHY HOW DOES HE DO IT?" ---brought to you by Wolframuse
Souji will go to ridiculous lengths to help people, but is usually SMART about it. Or at least acknowledges that it's a suicidal thing to do before doing it anyway.
So I'm not sure if Souji was the catalyst for Wolfram to finally break down his egocentricism or if his ego is only a coping mechanism when he's directly relating to Souji (since it seems it's mutual that they have a you-and-me against the world kind of friendship sometimes). B-but before you get the wrong idea and think Wolfram just admires Souji out of a hero-worship complex (though it sounds that way it feels nothing like that to him emotionally), Wolfram feels they're on even ground because of Souji's 'imaginary' (in Wolfram's mind) vices - I imagine that Souji would massively drive him nuts if he didn't have the wibbly self-hating inside that Wolfram punts around from time to time. Whether in love OR in friendship, Wolfram will start indirectly pointing out that said friend/whoever needs him once he takes it seriously. And by "seriously" I mean "severely necessary for functioning". Souji needs Wolfram there to yell at him into being sure of himself, Wolfram's convinced, and until that happens he'll view Souji on the level of "equal". Which is quite possibly the reason why Wolfram can be severe uke to the sans-Hijikata Souji in our IMs. >>;;
I-I think I'm done, for now.
