A Max Payne movie? Starring Mark Wahlberg? Rock!
That game feels outdated now that every other third person shooter has bullet time, but it distinguished itself in my memory with fantastically awful noir dialogue, nicely rendered still frame cutscenes, a single Buffy reference and a much cooler sequel, MAX PAYNE 2: THE FALL OF MAX PAYNE.
And of course, the television show Lords & Ladies.
"My lord."
"Ah, milady."
"Yes, my lord?"
"Oh, nothing, milady."
Classic.
I was playing original Max the night I met Shoshana in 2002, and later she and I played it together. The game's appeal had nothing to do with violence or blood....it was the ol' fashioned cheese factor and heightened sense of crazed drama. Good game, good memories.
