The night couldn't have been more beautiful. The party had been a good time- it wasn't quite over yet, but it was starting to dwindle enough where Duo didn't feel guilty in the least for bouncing. Also, he was done sharing Polly for the night.

He watched her as they walked, smiling a little.

"Yanno," he said, "I am gonna teach you an ( Read more... )

"It's bizarre," Polly declared. "You people have really weird music."

She didn't really mind all that much, though. The food had been good, she'd gotten to talk to Arya's brother again even if he had been kind of depressing, and now that it was over, there was still Duo. All told, a good evening to have had.

He laughed, slinging an arm around her waist.

"We've got variety," he countered, "and with variety is bound t'come...y'know, relative weirdness."

"Singing carts that go by themselves," declared Polly, "are strange enough without people flailing like that." The YMCA had made quite an impression on her, and not in a good way.

She didn't tense at all at the touching, now, and that was a little surprising to her. But nice.

"Awe, it wasn't all flailing," he protested. "Just like two thirds of it. Anyway, everyone can use a good flail once in a while. Stand still too long, 'n..." He blinked.

"Well, I don't actually know. Guess I never stood still long enough to find out."

"For some reason, that completely fails to surprise me." She smirked, then turned to hug him.

Duo didn't hesitate before returning the gesture so much as he took a moment to relish the act of it, sliding his arms around her back, fingers curling at the dip of her waist and the back of her shoulder.

"I'd probably have to try pretty hard, to surprise you," he murmured.

"I'm sure you could manage it. If you really tried." Polly raised a hand to the back of Duo's neck, under the braid, and kissed him briefly, then added "We're kind of in the middle of the path here, maybe we should get moving again before we start blocking traffic..."

"Yeah," he agreed, kissing her again. A few times.

"I- the beach? Wanna...walk, a little?" he asked, in no way releasing her from the embrace.

"That sounds good," said Polly, making no move yet to actually go anywhere.

"Good," he echoed, drawing her closer still, kissing her again. After a long moment, he drew away enough for them to face forward the same way, and walk. He did not, however, withdraw the arm from her lower back, and when they walked, their legs brushed.

"Arya doesn't keep still much, either, huh? I think she knew everyone there."

"Arya's really something special," said Polly fondly. "Did I mention she beat me at swordplay?"

"No! Wow. I wouldn't know what to do with a sword if my life depended on it. Probably...literally. Those Starks learn early, huh?"

"I got the impression they had to. Though she was taught, which makes me think that whatever she says about not being allowed to do anything since she was a girl it can't have been as bad as all that."

"She has a big family though, right? May not have been official lessons she was getting. Although- I dunno, were they? Wish someone had taught me how t'fight," he said with a vague shake of his head.

"More than the vague pointers, 'least ways. Sooo, pretty good with a sword are we?" he asked, grinning, tugging her briefly closer, as their feet hit sand. The beach looked like the moon under the white light. It was calming.

"Well, we didn't go into that so much. I didn't get the impression she'd learned the way I did, though." She may have looked a little bit bitter, just for a moment, then she smirked and said "I know a trick or two."

Duo caught the bitter look, and infinitely preferred the smirk. Since they were technically no longer on the path, he pulled her back around into a hug, then further, into that place beyond 'hug' where it becomes a proper embrace.

"I got the feeling you might."
