{014} - Unhappy returns [Action]

[There's a small click as the journal starts recording. All that can be heard are shallow, ragged breaths.]

Not again.

[His voice is raspy, barely recognizable. There's a rustling sound and a pained noise before he takes a deep breath and exhales.]

I guess I'm back at the village. I need to get home...

Allen! You're back... can you tell where you are? I'll come find you.

Lavi... I'm... [looks around, furrowing his brow] I'm in the village but near the border with the forest.

I'll be right there. Don't try to move, ok?

[comes running a few minutes later] Allen! [crouches beside him, reaching to touch his shoulder carefully] Are you hurt at all?

[he makes a small noise and does try to move at least to sit up with some dignity, looking over at Lavi as he finds him, nodding honestly] They took it... [reaches over, touching his left shoulder] They've got my Innocence.

They... what? [shock, disbelief, and concern war for dominance on his face before he pulls it back into a neutral expression] It'll be all right. I'm sure... it's only temporary. C'mon, let's get ya home, yeah? [slides his arm around Allen's back] Can ya stand or do you want me to carry you?

[removes his hand and shows off what little remains of his left arm, nodding lightly] I'll need help and... Go slow, please. [reaches up to put his arm around Lavi's shoulders] We can talk more when we get home.

[helps him up, then just shakes his head and lifts him off his feet into his arms] Forget that. I've got you. [holds him close, being careful of his missing arm as he starts back toward the house] Are you in pain?

Ack, Lavi! [hooks his arm around Lavi's neck, trying to steady himself as best he can before looking at his lover, nodding slightly] A bit. It'll go away soon.

[nods and walks a bit faster] I'll have you home soon. [tries not to look down at the stump of Allen's arm, but can't help glancing at it]

Once you've had some rest, we can talk about gettin' you fixed up, yeah?

It's fine, Lavi. I just need to sleep then... [hesitates, not sure how to proceed] Then we need to figure out how to get it back.

We'll figure it out. [gets Allen inside and to their bedroom before gently laying him on the bed] You... did it once before, yeah?

[gratefully leans back in bed but shakes his head slowly] That was different. My Innocence was shattered, turned into mist and stayed with me. They tore it from me, like it wasn't attached at all. [clenches his hand into a fist] I'll get it back.

[frowns and reaches for Allen's empty sleeve] Let me look...

[offers Lavi a weary and nervous smile] There's nothing to see. [reaches over and covers the sleeve, trying hard not to look as though he's hiding it] It's just not there.

Allen. [touches his hand, squeezing lightly] Let me see?

[looks up at the redhead before removing his hand, unbuttoning his shirt and shrugging out of it, the remaining stump of his left arm scratched and bruised] They forced it off. I've been trying to call it back to me but it won't work.
