There is no reason to apologize.

It was an uphill battle, so to speak. We were overwhelmed and outnumbered and we all did the best we could.

Yes... We'll just have to make sure that the same mistakes aren't repeated, should we be sent out to fight in such an environment again. In hindsight, the battle was too much in their favor for us to manage a victory.
