So, archery today. First night out since the great triumphs in the club championships.
Um. Er.
In my defense, one of the guys had noticed something wrong in my stance and we were working to correct it. Happily, when I had my stance better and my sights had been readjusted, my score started improving again. Unhappily, the damage to the overall score had already been done. Bleh.
But I will be buying a new piece of equipment, a long rod (mind out of gutter
riverfox,
terrylbirch), that turns out not be as scarily expensive as the fellow archer told me so I can actually afford it. As soon as I borrowed one from him, my arrow groupings improved a lot and I think it's going to be the next stage in my quest to be a half-decent archer.
One of the other archers was talking about entering me into a tournament in October. I pointed out that I needed to be shooting further than 40 yrds, but he thinks they may have shorter distances and it would be fun to utilise my novice status while I still have it :-) I'll see.
At least I'm still happy and enthusiastic about it, despite variations in performance and days when it's hard to see the improvement.
I'm not so enthusiastic about job hunting. Bleh. But I may have another commission for a website, so that side is looking up.
