Dear Femslashex Writer,
First of all, an early "Thank you!" for writing a fic in one of my fandoms. That alone has made me happy. If you've already got the perfect idea, please, go ahead and write it! If you want to know more about what I love about these pairings and prompts I've been mulling, I've thrown some thoughts together below.
I'm happy with any rating you're comfortable writing for.
General likes: I am a total sucker for tropes: accidental marriage, fake dating, stuck in a cabin, baby on the doorstep, cheesy AUs, the works. Throw them at me! I adore competent women kicking ass, women bonding, get together fics and figuring out how to stay together fics. I read fic to get the happy endings that are often missing in real life and in canon.
Dislikes: Death fic, sad endings, BDSM and heavy kink, graphic violence, dub-con/non-con, character bashing, cheating/adultery.
Holby City (Serena Campbell/Bernie Wolfe)
I have been shipping these two for weeks, so my glee that the show may actually be going there is thrilling. Except, shows never do it right and they always find a way to separate my shipped pairing, so I preemptively need the HEA for them. If you want to pick up after the kiss in the OR and run with it, that would be amazing. Bernie has experience with women and has come to terms with her sexuality, but as far as I can tell, this is all new for Serena. I would love to see Serena wrestling with these new feelings she's never had before, working through them with Bernie and figuring it out how to go from friends to lovers together. I know that with their individual histories, this won't be easy, but I need to see them reach that happy ending.
Doctor Who (Kate Lethbridge-Stewart/River Song, Ace McShane/Shou Yuing, Ashildr | Lady Me/Clara Oswin Oswald)
My Jemma Redgrave crush may be showing :-) Even though they've never met on screen, I think a romance between Kate and River would be terrific fun. Kate is so serious about her work and River would be a perfect foil to that. Think about the amazing adventures they could have together! River would probably try to sweep Kate off her feet, the way River does, but I think Kate would hold her own and surprise River. I'd love to see a story where River's archaeology background comes into conflict with Kate's UNIT duties, and they flirt and romance their way past it.
Of all of Ace's girlfriends of the week, Shou Yuing is the one who really seemed to get her the best. Bonding over explosives, being brave and wonderful together. I'd love to see what Ace and Shou Yuing get up to after the adventure is over. We know Ace and the Doctor hung around for a while, long enough for the women to take Bessie out for a shopping trip while leaving the men to make supper. I'd imagine it was at least a few days, plenty long enough for Ace and Shou Yuing to have some time together. If you want to write an AU where Shou Yuing goes with Ace and the Doctor when they leave…
Lady Me and Clara run away with a TARDIS to explore all of time and space together. The femslash is practically text. I'd love to see Clara and Lady Me falling for each other while having adventures, maybe getting into one of those tropes I love so much where they're forced to pretend to be a couple and shenanigans happen.
Ghostbusters 2016 (Erin Gilbert/Jillian Holtzmann)
The flirting was so strong with these two. Honestly, it was beautiful to watch. I'm not sure how anyone could read Erin's flustered responses to Holzmann as anything other than early-stage crush object.
And then there was Holtzmann's beautiful destruction of all the ghosts in the big showdown. If Erin was immune to that, she's a stronger woman than me. What I really want here is post-movie fic, where Holtzmann flirts mercilessly and Erin is flustered and doesn't understand it, because she does seem rather clueless about people flirting with her. And then Holtzmann clues her in. If you find a way to throw in one of my favourite tropes, I'll probably squee at hypersonic levels.
Original Work (Assassin/Medic, Athlete in One Sport/Athlete in a Different Sport (Original Work), Dragon Shapeshifter/Knight, Fairy Knight/Human, Girl #1/Daughter of Girl #1's Family's Mortal Enemies (Original Work), Superheroine/Undergraduate Student)
So, these pairing prompts are pretty much made for tropes and joy. Go wild, have fun, and if you accidentally manage to conjure up anything that's a little Xena Uber-ish, you will have my eternal gratitude.
Arrowverse (Alex Danvers/Lucy Lane)
This is a 'verse where I've had difficulty finding a femslash pairing I want, but I love the potential in this one. Two women who are warriors in their own ways, fighting side-by-side eventually. I'd love to see them bonding over their work and then discovering all the other ways they're a good fit. Or getting partnered up for a mission (oh, look, undercover dating possibilities!) and snarky-flirting themselves in love.
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen (Charlotte Lucas/Original Female Character(s))
I didn't know I wanted this until I saw it in the list, and then I wanted it. I've always felt bad for Charlotte Lucas, resigning herself to living miles from her family with a man she clearly doesn't love, and only just tolerates, because she knows she's not a conventional catch and this guarantees her a home and a place in the world. She's strong and intelligent and kind, but I always get the feeling she's desperately lonely. I want her to have the companionship and love she deserves, even though it can't be the conventional kind that everyone else gets. For once, I can easily put aside my dislike of adultery in fics, because it's the only way to give Charlotte a happier ending. Create Charlotte a woman who is her equal and give them the room and growth to fall in love. They might not be able to get married or live together forever, but they can have their own kind of happily ever after in the huge gaps that Charlotte's life with Mr Collins leaves her, and that's all I want for her.
