I've managed to establish which sleeping positions and movements trigger the spasms in my lower back, which is a big help. I actually got some sleep last night. I think taking my super strong co-codamol and a muscle relaxant helped a lot there.
I'm still incredibly tired due to my lack of sleep Monday night and the combined effects of all this. Ugh. I'm working from home today partially because mobility still isn't great and partially because I don't trust myself to drive.
Now that I'm not getting a bunch of muscle spasms, I'm able to assess what's going on underneath and I'm about 95% certain that it's my probably-inflammatory-arthritis-query-ankylosing-spondylitis flaring up. I'm having to use my cane when I first get out of bed because my legs buckle so badly and I stiffen up a lot very fast when I'm lying, sitting or standing in one place.
Regular gentle movement is back to being the key to my life. And thanks to the UC, I can't take any anti-inflammatories.
I see Awesome GI Guy tomorrow so we can take a look at my bloodwork results and check whether my colitis is starting to flare. If that all looks good and this doesn't get better over the weekend, it's off to the GP on Monday to start the fruitless attempts at working out what's causing this.
I really hate having a bad back *sigh*
My plan today is working from home and then curling up for some sleep as soon as I'm done. I managed to doze my way through some Private Practise DVDs yesterday so hopefully I'll manage the same today.
I'm hoping that I'll be reasonably mobile by Friday because it's my day off and I'd planned to take a trip into the city to visit the comic shop.
