It's already wound (Lex and I had fun with that a couple of months ago!). Mostly I'm concerned about the care and the felting that's been reported - it's such pretty yarn that I don't want it to become a mess of felting after two wears. I think it suits the stole idea much better :-)
Usually plain socks are my favourite travel project, but I haven't got heel turns memorised and I know that I'd end up needing to turn the heel at an inconvenient moment. Then I'd be stuck with nothing to knit! And we can't have that :-) So in all liklihood the stole will go with me to Denver and the socks will be my fun home project for a week or two :-)
I have three pairs of socks to my name. And one of those used a different sort of heel from the other two (that I didn't like the end result for as much, although it was easy). I still need to refer to a pattern to get the heel turned successfully. And I have to remember to bring the whole pattern, because guessing on the bits that I accidentally left at home doesn't work so well either which is why I've knitted three different heels so far.
I figure that I'll get heel turns memorised eventually. It gives me an excuse to make more socks :-)
