Yes, I'm a yarnaholic

My local yarn store started its birthday sale yesterday - 40% off everything. They have some gorgeous stuff including some cashmere that I've had my eye on for a while. I was so disappointed when I realised that I'd probably not get there until Saturday, the last day of the sale when all the good stuff would be gone and I'd probably not find ( Read more... )

I arranged with my boss to work through lunch today and leave early

I love it when hours are flexible!

Synchronicity - I also worked through lunch so I could go yarn buying. In this case, unexciting kitchen cotton, but I've been promising myself a cotton bedspread.

Did you get your cashmere?

It's so nice having a boss who is willing to be a little flexible when I need it. My previous boss would be a total jerk if I needed to leave half an hour earlier than I usually did, even though I'd work through lunch and still end up doing an hour's unpaid overtime that day. He blew a gasket when I wanted to leave at my contracted finish time one day so that I could get to a concert - and asked me when I'd make up the *unpaid overtime* time that week.

This boss is lovely and doesn't even ask why I want to leave early, provided I don't abuse it :-)

I did indeed get my cashmere and also the Malabrigo that I'd been hoping to find for a shawl: http://www.flickr.com/photos/archerygirl/3511363776/

It was a wonderful yarn haul and I can't wait to knit it all up :-)

No need to ask why he's your *former* boss!

I'm lucky - my hours are highly flexible as long as they average out correctly. (The downside is I'm still working off the time I took for last Friday.)

That's BEAUTIFUL yarn!

Oddly, I stayed with him for three years and only left because I'd made the decision to emigrate. I've got no idea how I lasted so long with him - most of my friends had 'inventive' names for him, particularly when I had to back out of plans due to his crap.

I'm so in love with my new yarn :-)

Sometimes in retrospect, things that made sense at the time no longer do.

You ought to be in love with that yarn. It's lovely!
