We're with Shaw, which seems to be the best of the bunch, but we're also in Alberta (for now), so I don't know how their service is in the Maritimes. I don't know if you get Telus out there, but if you do, avoid it like the plague.
*g* I've spent the last five years dealing with BT, who randomly drop my Internet connection at regular intervals, refuse to let me download torrents and have been known to disable our telephone line with no explanation whatsoever. So I assume suckiness :-)
Shaw used to be in the Maritimes, but I just checked and they no longer serve us :-( Drat, because they looked pretty good! I'm leaning towards Eastlink at the moment (my aunt uses them and they seem relatively decent) with possibly a separate plan set up for my long distance.
Everything else is proving to be easier than expected, but choosing a cable/Internet company? Now that's scary!
