Today I made it home before 7pm for the first time in two weeks. And for the last few days it's all been due to traffic! Yesterday I got caught in the twenty-mile queue to a closed junction on the motorway and then when I finally got off the motorway there was a broken down car on the slip road.
Today I sat and read for fifteen minutes while I waited for them to re-open the motorway (vehicle fire), but they didn't have it closed for too long and I was fairly near the head of the queue. It was slow in places after that but nothing major compared to what I've been trawling through for the last few days. Oddly, I don't feel better about the whole driving thing even though it only took me an hour and a half to get home.
When I got home, Mum informed me that Zoom has changed the flight times on all our flights. As Mum is flying out on a different day from Dad and I and flying back on a different day from Dad, that's quite impressive. Sadly, in the process of changing our flight times, they've lost out seat allocations. Again! So I've sent an email asking them to restore my seat allocation because it's next to Dad and I don't want to spend six hours sitting next to some big fat sweaty strange man just because the airline was too incompetent to maintain their database correctly.
Thankfully I don't have to go back to work again until next Wednesday - so today's Wednesday is technically Friday :-)
Yes, Monday and Tuesday are being spent packing and putting things on a boat to Canada (can anyone say stress?), but tomorrow I'm off to
historyterry's graduation and there I will be having lots of fun with
catspaw_sgjd,
blue_adagio,
sazzle_02,
feather_autant and
nicci_mac so the next few days should be great :-)
