First thought: why did I let my mother borrow the book before I could re-read? Yaah!
Also, I'm very pleased with the overall positive reaction across fandom. Individual niggles, but the majority of people seem pretty happy with the book.
Except, it appears, for the epilogue where I'm split between going "la, la, la, it didn't exists" and hunting down Next Gen fic :-) Taken with the rest of the book, it didn't really fit and I'm not sure that I'm any happier than the rest of the fandom. OTOH, it probably did give a happy glow to the younger readers who needed that "And they all lived happily ever after (making lots of babies)" ending.
Ignoring the epilogue gives lots and lots of lovely fic possibilities. As some people have noted, it's even possible to have plenty of fic when including the epilogue. My preference (except for those brave souls going into AS/S territory already or the already written Teddy Lupin story by
sam_storyteller) is possibly going to be ignoring the epilogue, but we'll see.
There is already some pretty nifty fic appearing :-) I will probably be restraining myself from putting up HP post-DH fic recs at Haven Reviews until August to preserve people's anti-spoileryness as long as possible.
It's going to be interesting to see what HP fandom comes up with now that it's a closed canon.
Today is monumentally boring. I really want to be at home finishing a French assignment so that I don't have to do it at the weekend or even just reading fic. Instead I am bored :-(
And coming down with a serious case of meeting-itis.
Is it time to go home yet?
I don't have the words to talk about the Tour de France and Vino. Yet. I shall probably recover my ranting abilities later.
