Yesterday was the fabulous work "celebrate success" day. Our director likes to do these every now and again because so many of my colleagues come from consulting backgrounds and miss the perks that consulting used to give them. Does he also get them to take 6.30am flights on 12 hours notice to make them feel really at home? ;-)

No, but he has been known to phone them at insane times of the night to ask work-related questions. My team has a policy of not letting our director have our home or mobile phone numbers to prevent exactly those issues. He's also been known to email us at midnight while on holiday in Italy with his (reputedly) beautiful wife. What man goes on holiday with a beautiful woman and wants to work at night? ;-)

Dunno. Don't much care to work at night irrespective of whether I'm on holiday or who I'm with!

An ex-colleague also told me of a project manager who was legendary, even by Andersen Consulting standards. It seems she was holding a conference call with her team even while she was in labour and had to pause from time to time due to contractions...
