Today is going surprisingly well, for a Monday. I full expect chaos and insanity to return shortly, because there is no way that I'll be getting out of here at the time I'm supposed to finish. It's Monday: these things just don't happen.
The weekend was busy, but enjoyable and productive.
The Moscow City Ballet has been at our local theatre for the last few days, so on Saturday I went to the matinee performance of Swan Lake with a couple of friends. Fantastic performance - the girl who played Odette/Odile was absolutely amazing. Your eyes were drawn to her the moment she came on stage and she certainly stood out from the rest of the swans. When she was playing Odette, she was fluttery and shy, very bird-like, and you could believe that she'd fallen in love with Siegfried. When she was Odile, it was like watching someone trying to pretend to be Odette - very good. Odile was more deliberately seductive, trying to be fluttery and shy but with too much self-confidence to pull it off. The final act was beautifully done and I had shivers down my back during the pas de trois. You really felt for Siegfried and Odette and her dying swan was amazing.
Sigh.
Sunday was more of a practical day - finishing the first college assignment of the year, watching the rugby (damn) and catching up on a couple of episodes of The Dresden Files.
I have two days holiday at the end of the week and I can't wait :-)
ballet,
