Hospital visiting fun

Today has been largely about getting another non-diagnosis. In fact, I've ended up with one less diagnosis than I had this morning! Go me!

It was my check-up with the orthopedic surgeon, which is always fun. He X-rayed, poked, prodded and twisted my hip into uncomfortable positions. Then he declared himself stumped. The X-ray doesn't show anything that he can treat surgically, my flexibility is excellent (er, I'm hypermobile...) and I'm not walking funny (today, because I'm having a good day). To me, my hip is stiffer and less mobile than it was. But it's only taken me down to a normal range of movement and he didn't take that into account.

He's right, though, that there's nothing he can do. It's frustrating that they only see me when I'm not in massive amounts of pain and probably frustrating for them too. Right now my back really, really hurts so I'm going to have a lie-down. This morning, my hip was so stiff that I was hobbling but my hot shower cured that. It's hard for them to diagnose the source of this when it's not showing up on my X-rays and they never see me when I'm hurting so much that I have to use a walking stick or fall over.

The original plan was that I'd go into work after the appointment. By the time I finally got out, Da Boss decided that it was too late to bother with that and declared me sick for half a day (bearing in mind all the extra time I put in to make up for this morning already). So I've spent the afternoon at home resting and, er, working my little newsletter project. At least that's one thing that I've got finished!
