Today could be...interesting. The computer that we use to load data into the data warehouse has fallen over with what appears to be a terminal error. As this is the only computer left that the software will work on, this could be an issue :-) Da Boss must now actually get the software working on one of the new PCs rather than ignoring the issue...
Everyone is wandering into the office in dribs and drabs after fighting through horrendous traffic queues caused by the closure of the M25. Somehow, despite my usage of said M25, I managed not to find the traffic queues. Gotta be the first time that's ever happened. Thankfully, the closure is in the right place for me so that I should be able to get home without too many problems tonight even if it remains closed.
The morning was oddly beautiful when I drove in. There was low-lying mist everywhere, quite thick in places, and the sun had only just come out. The first part of my journey was quiet, dark and damp, but the mist highlighted the trees and made the fields look mysterious, as though you could just leave the road and walk into somewhere that wasn't quite earth. When the sun finally made its appearance, it tinged the mist with colour. There were places where you could almost believe that there was nothing else out there because the mist was so thick. Trees were rising up out of a golden clouds and I half expected to see unearthly creatures appearing out of the haze.
I can still see mist lying on the hills out of my office window. It's mornings like this that I don't entirely dislike my commute.
